123 Days, Day 6 - Artistic Direction

I've heard this said many times before by Mary Morrissey, Unity Minister, and now "Dreambuilder" Life Coach, "Notice What You're Noticing"....

                                       Again..."Notice What You're Noticing"

As an Artist, are you noticing that you like Landscapes, or Abstracts, or Flowers, or Skies or People, or Sculptures or Beads or Metalwork or WHATEVER.............

                                                     "NOTICE WHAT YOU'RE NOTICING"

I've been noticing several things lately--Sunrises, gold leafing, and ...

Today, I was  browsing through the Creative Catalyst and Noticed this:

Thats

A Little Watercolour with Karin Huehold about doing 72 mini watercolors out of one sheet of paper. (22" x 30" - a standard sheet of watercolor paper). I have ALWAYS loved mini watercolors. The first time I got truly interested in mini watercolors was when I was a monitor in a workshop for Jacqueline Penney when she came to Sarasota Florida to teach at the Hilton Leach Studio.  She had just come out with this book:

In this book Jacqueline Penney talks about taping a piece of watercolor paper to foam core board and dividing it into a lot of sections with masking tape--yes tape!.You can use Artists Tape, but masking tape is fine. And, since then, I have loved doing demos of textures, and all kinds of things. It is a great way to experiment with paint doing small thumbnails and trial runs of colors and textures without feeling intimidated. Some of the little paintings can be framed or used as cards...So much fun!   These are some of my textures demos:

So, remember to Notice What You're Noticing...It can be very revealing about your Artistic Personality, and the Direction you want to take with your Art.

"Mini" Happy Paintings!

Becoming Prolific,
